The Garden of Nero

Here in the Garden of Nero
(not a typo!)
petrol big boys fiddle with matchsticks
while our home burns.
Greece, Maui, Tenerife, Donnie Creek
and a swath of southern states
blaze big and bright with blue balls fury
striking fear into us, beneath burning bedsheets.
‘Our house is on fire!’ Greta bitch-slaps the boys.
She pulls the handle. The alarm is real.
