Windsor Welcomes World (2012)

Mock eight-page Windsor Star newspaper for the City of Windsor in 2012 helped a city delegation secure the FINA short-track world swimming championships in Windsor four years later.

Vancouver Press Club Foundation (1992)

• Best News Story first prize (circ. 60,000 or less) for investigative series that prompted B.C. Coroner’s inquest into the death of a construction worker that made several recommendations to improve safety in the industry. Published in the Burnaby News and New West News.

• Best News Story honourable mention (circ. 60,000 or less) for coverage of New Westminster City Council’s shakeup of its planning department. Published in the Burnaby News and New West News.


Jack Webster Award of Distinction (1991)

Shared first-place honours, Jack Webster Foundation Award for “Shootout at Court” hostage-taking at the New Westminster Law Courts building and its aftermath. Published in the Burnaby News and New West News.


B.C. and Yukon Community Newspapers Association (1991)

• Shared first place for Best News Reporting (circ. 60,000 or less) for exclusive story of confidential B.C. government report on high costs of Skytrain transit. Published in the Burnaby News and New West News.

  • In my capacity as a freelance writer working for various publications, as well as in Windsor Star publications, I have interviewed and written about many well-known personalities.   • As a Content Works producer at Postmedia, and in previous roles handling special sections for the Windsor Star, I have worked with many partners in the community on publications, from official programs to commemorative issues. The organizations include: the City of Windsor, Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (annual Business Excellence Awards); Windsor Goodfellows (annual fundraising newspaper); Windsor-Essex Association for Volunteer Administration (Volunteer Week publications); In Honour of the Ones We Love; Downtown Windsor BIA; Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board; Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare; Windsor Centre for Film, Digital Media & the Creative Arts; Windsor and District Labour Council and more.
  • In 2002, I coordinated the Windsor Star feature Vision and kicked if off by organizing an audio-visual presentation at the Art Gallery of Windsor. Using the theme “Think Big,” it included then-Mayor Eddie Francis as a guest speaker.
  • Since 2014, I have published several works of poetry and fiction, as well as non-fiction (including book reviews, short essays and tributes), either self-published or on several online magazines on Medium.
